(this is an update from Denise Petrey, the person,
regarding the spring gatherings at White Rock Hall,
where I live and teach in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains
north of Asheville, North Carolina)
When I first walked into the building that was at the time called White Rock Presbyterian Church, I knew that we were meant to be together. After a few dozen miracles and more than a few mishaps, when I had to back up and let go, we finally became a team--only to learn that I couldn't leave the building where it was, its bottom rotting away in the flood plain next to the stream where it had been built in 1909.
Cut to 2007: moving day. White Rock is being towed up the road by a very large truck and two bulldozers. We weren't the only ones praying that it wouldn't be dropped. It sat for over a year on its railroad ties, jacked up 16 feet in the air, battered by the 20-60mph winds over a brutal winter and spring before we could get it put together with the customized foundation that we had to build under it. Piece of cake.
It's now 2014. While my husband has done some filming of his live show in the sanctuary, I've yet to have my first event here. Each morning I have my coffee in the golden room we call home, its 30x30 square studded with eight huge windows and hung with mirrors that reflect the light. The original oak pews are still here and have enjoyed much company.
I will be delighted to share it with you, in the highest belief that you will also feel the eleven-plus decades of prayers and love that are still lodged here, like love notes stuck in the little crannies between the bevels in the old board walls. On May 11th, Sunday (2014), I invite you to gather with me here at the (still-in-progress) renovated (ing . . .) White Rock Hall (find WRH on Facebook HERE: https://www.facebook.com/whiterockhall?ref=hl .)
At 1pm, I'll open the doors to both men and women who are interested in group discussion and support relevant to the kind of Direct Voice Communication that I've been posting on this blog. Please bring snacks and beverages to share if you are able. We have wonderful well water, and I will brew tea and coffee for those who partake.
