It is easy to believe that the concept of Distance is meant to be understood in geographic terms, as in the Distance between points A and B. What is the Distance between the north and south poles? What is the Distance between your house and your place of work?
But . . . what is the Distance between your
breaths? Between the time you first
realized that one day your mortal body would die, and the time that you accepted
the realization? What was that Distance?
What is the Distance between the time that you understood a behavior to be unsatisfactory and the time that you correct the
behavior? What is that Distance? Is that Distance growing smaller as you gain
wisdom and compassion?
What is the Distance between a cry for help
and a long, circular, guilt-bloated response?
What is the Distance between a cry for help
and a blind, compassionate and immediate response?
How do those Distances compare?
and a long, circular, guilt-bloated response?
What is the Distance between a cry for help
and a blind, compassionate and immediate response?
How do those Distances compare?
What is the Distance between You and Yourself?
Whatever the Distance, it closes at the speed of Love.
