CATHEDRAL

     ~ harmonizing self with idea-of-self

Your mind, your body, and your Spirit are all Cathedrals, holy hives chosen to contain something much larger than what is visible from the outside. While you have a name, a style, a socio-cultural place and identity, how much more is locked inside you?

Your Cathedral is the place where your beliefs and tenets, your cosmology is stored. Its rooms house your history, present, and future. Its nooks and naves record your Life and keep it in perpetuity, safe for your study.

If your eyes are windows to your soul, what do they say about you? Are they stained glass panels, smoky portholes, or storm-glazed panes roosting high above the city? What does the facade of your Cathedral say, and is its interior an accurate or at least, harmonious interpretation of what is shown to others?

The last time you walked through the interior of your Cathedral, what did you find? How much surprised you? What was the most difficult thing to view?

Think about that self-revelation now. Let us say you consider your self courageous, but found a stunning array of behaviors that were implicitly the opposite. Can you own cowardice? Can you invoke a system to overcome cowardice? Do you notice that you are extremely courageous in some areas, and withdrawn/ apathetic in others? Why?

     Your Cathedral is your great work. It is the place where all aspects of the self come together. It is the great experience. The great experiment.

When you can walk to the very top of your Cathedral and ring the bell, you will know that you have come to terms with what you have built. You will know that you have let heart guide you, and eschewing perfection, embraced what is.
