Mahogany wood grows slowly and is dense, compared to the Birch tree. Its grain is long and straight, its pulp dark red. Compare it to the Magnolia, and the Mahogany seems to grow quickly, more quickly still when compared to the Boab and the Redwood. Do the trees in the forest compare themselves to one another for their speed of growth, their external shape, their size, and their internal forms? Or do they inhabit their environment as part of a tapestry, taking part in the Song as an indivisible part of it?

Endurance is not a state of non-change. It is not a state of non-acceptance. It is not a state of non-judgment, as in being unable to feel the difference between hot and cold, or day and night. It is not a withdrawal from measures, and the time when the boulder split from the rock face of the mountain and landed in the water with its sharp edges intact, slowly smoothing as the elements forged its body to a more streamlined form.

But what of every day? We are faced with multitudinous choices that at each intersect, have the power to change our future. Overthinking can freeze us into non-action. Avoidance will do the same. This is where the power of Reconnaissance works at its best. If you can divide your decision-making into A, B, and C, do this: use ‘A’ for the choice that says ‘Yes’ to what you are considering, and ‘B’ for the choice that says ‘No’ to what you are considering.
‘C’ is for the unthought thought or other thing, that is as yet unconsidered (that is sometimes a higher or better thing—but not always).
