ENDURANCE

To Endure:  what does that mean?  Endurance is embedded with Faith and Strength and Courage.  It is the rock that inhabits the river though the water carves its pathways around it, helping the sand to scour its sides and leave inlets for the organisms that feed in its cavities.  It keeps its eyes open to the sun and moon and stars, absorbing the heat and the cold in like measure.  Endurance is the state that remains stable as everything external moves by, and says with grace, “I Am.”

Endurance is not a state of non-change.  It is not a state of non-acceptance.  It is not a state of non-judgment, as in being unable to feel the difference between hot and cold, or day and night.  It is not a withdrawal from measures, and the time when the boulder split from the rock face of the mountain and landed in the water with its sharp edges intact, slowly smoothing as the elements forged its body to a more streamlined form.

Endurance is a steady patience; it is a calm hand; it has a loving heart and an understanding nature.  Endurance says:  “I Am and I can see that You Are.”

When your heart suffers, ask yourself, is it merely the shadows of leaf over the sun that you feel, or the ticking of pebbles as they tumble, sleeping, around your buzzing body, cold and heavy in the stream?  What does that mean?  Why do you feel so apart?  Have you known so many ages?

Perhaps you have, yes.  Perhaps you are what some call an old soul.  You have seen this journey of incarnates many times, this raising up of the new consciousness from birth to death, its traps and trials.  If so, then too, you have seen these Spirits sing their praises as they come into life and smile their first smiles, grasp their first human hand, go to sleep by lullaby.  Would you listen only to the dark thread and ignore the bright?

Endurance will have its days.  You will feel its weight.  When the air feels heavy against your skin, go where the air is lighter.  When the sounds of life become coarse, go where the sounds are softer.  Take yourself to those places where the Earth Mother can sing to you her perfect lullaby, and know what your Endurance buys you.

The longevity of Love Unconditional; that is the gift of Endurance.
