FALSE COMFORTS
~how beliefs provide shelter
If you believe a thing is
Destined, do you more readily accept it? If you find something to be illuminating, do
you believe it is also necessary?
Do you believe that the universe “gives you no more
than you can handle”, even while you are breaking? Do you believe a beloved person is now dwelling in a better place, though your religious system says otherwise? We do not contest the truth of any of these Comforts--yet any or all of them could be False constructs.
False Comforts are sometimes
needed to help us make it successfully through a difficult transition. When we
are standing at position “A”, looking across a long channel to position “B”, we
quite often believe we do not possess the necessary courage, tenacity, or
energy to move forward. It could be that False Comforts aid us.
And how do False Comforts
compare to Everlasting Comforts in these situations? Can you connect to the
inner core of your self/Self, and Great All, to find and apply what is needed
on your journey . . . or do you too often hide behind colloquialisms and empty
ideas that are embraced by humankind’s higher percentages?
There is no fault in wanting
Comfort. There is, in fact, a great need for it. But—as a child afraid of the
dark—will it help you in Life to believe that there is nothing harmful in the
dark, or that you needn’t take cautions? Instead of ignoring Intuition, and
repeating litanies of False Comforts, would you be better served by opening the
closet door and exploring the interior with a flashlight?
Events explode in our lives
without planning, often dismantling preconceived ideas, and along with them,
our tenets and beliefs. We are quite often shocked out of believing one thing
and simultaneously forced to embrace another. You may believe a road is so safe to cross, you
stop looking both ways . . . until an acquaintance is killed crossing the same
road.
You may win the lottery,
though you never consciously thought about the numbers, or envisioned a sudden
and generous gift. These kinds of events cause fault lines in your life, where
before the event becomes a separate life from the life you live following the
event. This happens with both positive and negative occurrences.
What is your favorite False
Comfort? Do you procrastinate? Do you say that tomorrow will be just as good as today to begin something? Do you believe that you will be better
prepared, later? This is the False Comfort that there is always a tomorrow.
Do you believe that your life
will improve once you have reached certain goals: a relationship, a job, a
home, community standing, physical or mental abilities? This is the False
Comfort that your future, once your goals are reached, will be bliss.
Do you believe that something
was meant to be, and has occurred by no fault of your own? Do you believe that
external events always trump your internal powers? This is the False Comfort of
believing that you are here, riding a Life Train, merely a passenger on a
powerful conveyance that is ruling over your destiny. This is the False Comfort
of martyrism, apathy, and false modesty.
You will find upon
exploration that your life is guided, and minimized, by many False Comforts.
Should you wish to banish these False Comforts, you can replace them with true
and perpetual Comforts.
You are intentional. You were
constructed. You were Sung together with Love, and when it is time to recycle
your energies, you will likewise be Sung together again in a new and beautiful
way. You are always within sight and hearing of many Beloved, who are witness
to your life, and help wherever they can.
You are part of the
Everlasting Harmonies. You are important.
You are involved, no matter your
choices, in the Great Construct that is Great All.
Should you need Comfort, True
and Everlasting Comfort, you may bridge your life by first embracing the False.
And then, looking back to the shore from which you departed, reach out to the
True and Everlasting Comfort—both giving and receiving.
It is said that you can bring
a man a fish and feed him for a day—but if you teach the man to fish, you will
have fed him for a lifetime. Knowledge fires this power.
Read a girl a book, and open
her world. Teach her to read a book, and you set her on a journey. Teach a girl
to write a book, and you will give her the artist’s canvas, and with that, a
girl can make her own world, and many worlds thereafter.
So . . . consider your
False Comforts, and when necessary, take of them Comforts that are real. But, when comes the
time for you to fish, and to write books and to make new worlds, place your False
Comforts behind you.
Let your Light shine wild and broadly.
In sharing that Light with others, you
Embrace the True and Everlasting Comfort.
