SUBTERFUGE FOR EMPOWERMENT

You want to be stronger, more direct, less fear engaged, but your emotions trip you up again and again. You’ve tried talk therapy, emotional release, meditation, and other modalities, each of which require you to either ignore the issues, pretend they are less, separate yourself from them, or determine their source so that you might leave them behind or “turn them.” However, you find that those methods are not working for you.

But . . . what if you choose to acknowledge these conditions and qualities that exist with you today as “What Is,” not worrying about how they came to be, but seeing how you would like those qualities to transform into higher qualities that serve you at a more helpful level (and therefore serve others at a more helpful level)? What if you said:  I have a fear of the dark, but I will take on the role of a powerful character who embraces the dark?

How is that character different from you? If you were studying this role for the stage, how would you compare your conscious self with the self of a powerful person who you perceive to be unafraid of, and even comfortable in, the dark? How would the qualities of this other cause you to change your posture, language, and behaviors? Practice this role until it feels you could do the role for an audience.

After some time, you will notice that the role becomes easier to play. You begin to embody the role by studying the attributes of the night and its uniqueness. You study the animals that move in the night and the vital processes that are at work, keeping the Earth whole and vibrant. You learn to look at the stars and enjoy the moonlight.

At some point, while using Subterfuge to “try on” the character of a person empowered by the dark, you find that you can now function in the dark at a very high level. The character you have tried on is now a part of you, and in peeling it away, you realize that you will retain more of the character qualities than you leave behind. You may choose to keep this character in your wardrobe.

In a sudden, traumatic event, you may panic and backslide to an “understudy state”. That’s understandable. There are other, perhaps many, reasons for your latter, unnatural fear of the dark, which we will not consider under the subject of Subterfuge.

Whatever your reasons for feeling “less than,” Subterfuge can help. Draw Empowerment to you through the taking on of higher roles, and thereby subverting the lower incarnation or version of character development that you wish to leave behind. In cases of extreme duress and human derangement, the shield of Subterfuge has been the saving grace for a broken mind: the tortured adult who reverts to childhood; the survivor of genocide who reverts to her teenaged pre-war years; the explorer who believes himself a god in order that he doesn’t lose any more persons under his command.

If you are too bashful to engage comfortably with others, take on the Subterfuge of confidence. For anger, study the ways of peace and diplomacy, and mimic this in a Subterfuge of loving compassion. To set healthy boundaries, consider the teachings of mediators and perform like one through the Subterfuge of that role.

The opportunities are endless.
What you practice becoming, you soon become.

SUBTERFUGE FOR COMPASSION

Compassion is experienced at many levels, from the community at large, to the intimate and deepest personal level. The closer and more densely within your personal field something vibrates, the more powerfully you are affected by it.

You hear of a volcanic eruption with devastation and loss of life: it happens thousands of miles from you and involves people with a look and culture very different from your own. This is bad news to you. You feel sorry that this happened. You may even contribute to the efforts to help them evacuate, search for survivors, and relocate, shelter, and feed those who remain.

Now, consider that this place in the world is a place you have visited before. This place has special meaning for you, a face and a personality. You wonder if some of the people whom you met while there have been affected by this tragedy. This is more than bad news to you. It makes an impact and you reach out, perhaps giving more than you otherwise might.

What if the site of this volcanic eruption was an island from which your spouse’s family derived? Distant relatives still live there. Your level of compassion grows deeper. The vibration of effect is stronger and closer to you. You now feel compelled to do more, possibly even join the rescue mission on the island.

Bring this scenario home to your continent—then to your community—now, to your family. This tragedy has occurred to your closest family unit. How great is that impact and what is your level of compassion? How powerful grows that vibration of effect if you lose your spouse or child to death? Add to that your own wounding, say, of loosing limbs. Does the vibrational effect grow even greater?

Do you see? The vibration of Compassion, for most people, will increase in strength as it grows closer to the epicenter of personal involvement. And what does all of this have to do with Subterfuge?

Subterfuge can help you to connect, long or briefly, with the epicenter of another’s need for Compassion. It is human nature to be both drawn to, and to protect self from, the pain of others. We often attempt to gloss over this by attempting not to feel the negative emotions of others at all, by turning away, or by following rote protocols to ease our conscious mind’s authority, and soften our subconscious mind’s cajole.

Some of us are natural Empaths, and without personal will or conscious thought, will take on the pain of persons around us. That, in fact, can be very draining and detrimental. Those on an upward spiritual path will be in training to control their Empathic abilities, so that they aren’t disabled by the conflicting and downward spiraling, angry, fearful, and sick energy of those around them.

Connecting to these needs through Subterfuge is actually much easier and far more advisable. As an example: envision yourself taking on the role of a survivor of the volcanic eruption. What do you feel? Remember, you want to embody this role at a very high level. It is the nuance that will make your performance brilliant.

You have been traumatized, and so you feel unsafe, unsure, and are still suffering from some disbelief: how did this happen here, today, and to us, to me? Everything you have always known is now gone—your home and all of its memories, schools, churches, work places and businesses, public meeting spaces, and even landmarks. You don’t know yet who is alive and who is dead among your family members and friends. You are floating and rootless, exhausted, burned, confused, and without resources.

Rather than feeling the effects of all of those emotions, you can experience them through Subterfuge and the taking on of that role. In your mind and heart, you can wander around in that character’s aspects and consider what these things mean, as experienced by the human living on Earth today.
Which of your own experiences can you use to help fully resonant the inner voice of your character and make it simpatico with the character role you are playing?

How now do you respond to the information of this volcanic eruption in that far away place? Through Subterfuge, you can invest in Compassion by increasing your level of understanding, while enabling yourself to stay free of the damaging aspects of uncontrolled Empathy. You can “try on” for short moments in time, what it feels like to be another person, to “walk a mile in their shoes.”

Try using Subterfuge the next time you encounter a news story of this type, or even pass a person who is begging on the street corner. Will you change the channel, or drop a dollar in the bucket—the easy ways—or will you take a moment to build your
Compassion by using Subterfuge to imagine and momentarily embody their life role?

SUBTERFUGE

We all use Subterfuge, and for different reasons at different times: to makes ourselves appear more, or less, or different; to make ourselves stand out or to disappear. Why? Why would we want to be disingenuous to our true Selves? For many reasons: protection, fear, promotion, sensory overload, expansion, contraction, growth, desire for new experiences, and withdrawal from overused experiences and painful ones.

Subterfuge, therefore, cannot be labeled as patently wrong. It can be used for negative and exploitative purposes, even when the one being exploited is our selves/Selves. It can be destructive, even when it is destructive to our Selves. It can be misleading, even when we use it to mislead our Selves. It can give us a false sense of security, or a false sense of greatness, or of insecurity and fear. These are plain observations. But, how do we use Subterfuge as a helpful tool?

Imagine that you are who you desire to be—now—in this moment. Wear that version of You, first as a Subterfuge. Do this initially, in your own space and time. Do you wish to be wiser? Wear that version of You, using temporary Subterfuge. How does that wise version of You, that Subterfuge entity, behave, think, and make decisions? How does it feel to wear the skin of that wise entity? For how long does that feel comfortable?

In the company of which of your acquaintances
could you maintain this Wisdom Subterfuge and why?

In the company of which of your acquaintances would you fail
using this Wisdom Subterfuge, and why?

What changes and/or improvements to your self/Self and your body of knowledge would you make in order to fulfill the avatar that is the Wisdom Self you imagine as this version of you/You in Subterfuge? Does this preview as given to you by the gift of Subterfuge feel like a forward and beneficial step for your future? How would you proceed to fulfill this destiny? Would you grow this Subterfuge in small steps within your private spaces, or among new acquaintances, in larger steps?

You have heard that a prophet is never a prophet is their own back yard. For as you have developed a set of Beliefs that you use to describe your self/Self, so have your acquaintances, family and friends. How do you Believe your Self? How do others Believe your self/Self to Be? Is there currently room to grow your self/Self within those parameters? If not, what changes can you create in order to make the changes you need to develop the realized avatar that is the whole YOU?

Believe in the fully formed version of your growing self/Self as you are developing that self/Self. Use Subterfuge in this way for beneficial means, to show you how expansive a greater and more aware self/Self can be, for your mortal self and for the Great All. First . . . do no harm; that is the important tenet. Use Subterfuge only to practice your new role as you create it. Do NOT use Subterfuge as a shell to hide behind, a facade to blind others to a lazy work ethic or a harmful set of behaviors.

Do NOT seek to harmfully delude others through Subterfuge. Preview higher versions of self/Self and as you do, study other persons’ reactions to that self/Self through the temporary wearing of that persona. Always be in evidence of good character as you study this Higher way.

Like your most genuine smile, temporary Subterfuge can serve you. Go to the party. Come to the studies. Just as you will soon be truly smiling from the heart, when you begun with only a Subterfuge of a smile, you can also be your next best self/Self by wearing the Subterfuge of that Higher You, and growing into that realized version of Expanded Consciousness.

FAITH

What is Faith?  Is it the same as Belief?  You have been hearing, and using, these words for most of your life.  Is this your current understanding of these wordthoughts?

Faith:  belief in something to be true without any evidence to support truth
Belief:  holding an idea to be true based on learned input

Faith and Belief are remarkably different:  in society, in evolution, in cosmic reality, and most importantly . . . in your personal patterns, pathways, and pathos.  Belief is a set of thoughtforms that have been conditioned into the mind of a sentient being by the experiences of that being’s life.

            • Breaking a mirror will bring 7 years bad luck
            • Monsters will take you if you don’t eat all of your vegetables
            • Masters feed you when they are pleased and starve you when they are angry
            • In Heaven there are harps and angels and in hell, fire and devils
            • Humans are the superior species currently alive on Planet Earth
            • Inferior races of humans should be annihilated in favor of superior races

Some of these Beliefs sit more gently with you than some of the others.  The list of Beliefs alive on Planet Earth today is astounding.  You would be dumbfounded by what you believed to be the ignorance, violence and ignominy of some of these Beliefs, so foreign to your own culture and your own Beliefs . . . yet they hold power for their Believers, who feed them Faith and look upon them as if their Beliefs were Truth.

In fact, Beliefs cannot be countered with more Beliefs, not in the end.  Beliefs can only be countered in a way that matters, by Truth.  Faith can lead to Truth.  And what is Faith?

Faith has long been colored by Belief.  Having devolved to a wordthought and an idea, Faith has been encapsulated to mean a hollow belief that someone clings to despite any evidence to support it.  Is that Faith?  No.  But, then, Faith cannot be contained by a singular idea, and certainly not by a singular wordthought.

Faith is a condition of the Quiet Mind:  the ability of one to see clearly, where one is in the moment and to be there, in that condition, accepting.  That is Faith.  Nothing more.

Faith is a deep understanding and acceptance of harmony.  It is not the application of anything.  We may talk about the application of Faith and now, that is another thing; it reflects different sociocultural inheritances, needs and circumstances.

Pure Faith, however, is this:
I am alive, here and now.
It is perfect.

USURPING DOUBT

By what means do you coalesce your Faith?  Do you coalesce your Doubt by opposite means or by similar means?  What is Faith, and what is Doubt?

Faith, in application, is the streamlining of Belief, with or without tangible evidence, toward a desired outcome.  When you coalesce your Faith, you first envision the outcome and may or may not see, the factors falling into place that create that outcome.  Faith is the shortcut between where you are now and where you want to be, providing for the fulfillment of everything in the gulf between those two points becoming manifest—without the need of your laborious and/or egregious manipulation.

You therefore, coalesce your Faith by surrendering, and by remaining an unimpeding factor in allowing the necessary factors to come to the pathway that connects point ‘A’, where you are now, and point ‘B’, where you want your Faith to take you.  The only thing you must manifest is your surrender, your attention, and your willingness to communicate at a level which allows you to see where you are being led—and respond as appropriate, as it becomes appropriate.  This happens each time you place your foot on the path.  In the present, not the future.

To coalesce Doubt, you must believe in a variety of factors:  your inability to travel between points ‘A’ and ‘B’; the existence of point ‘B’; the inability of the route from ‘A’ to ‘B’ to be fully known or fully satisfied; the value of either or both point(s) ‘A’ and ‘B’; or a total or partial lack of resources to fulfill the A/B route.  Therefore, Doubt is a much more complex and difficult thoughtform and emotion than is Faith.  It requires more energy, time, and space consumption than streamlined Faith.  It is tentacled and bulky and altogether anti-social.

But what of rationality and process?  What of caution and censure and planning?  Can Faith be paired with these conditions, or can they only be paired with Doubt?

Works of great Faith are usually supported by great work, which in turn requires rationality, process, caution, censure, and planning.  Faith does not require the obliteration of mind; it eases the pathway by providing a map for the route between points ‘A’ and ‘B’, unfurling it one beautiful line at a time.  Using the vehicle of Faith, the Quiet Mind can follow this map, steady and sure, undisturbed by the internal dialogue of defeat and false control that are the trademarks of Doubt.

“Here is the first roadway,” Faith says.  “Enjoy the scenery.”

This does not mean you will not strive or take some backwards steps.  It doesn’t mean that you won’t have to quiet your mind again in order to see the next road and its opportunities.  It means, that you can clearly tune to the frequency wherein lies the instructions that await you:  the most appropriate route from where you are to where you want to go, from ‘A’ to ‘B’ containing the best experiences for your soul growth.  Place your feet with Grace upon that path.

It will not be without worry or failure, but using Faith, you will usurp Doubt.  Faith is not a faulty system.  Faith is not for the weak-minded or the false or the cowardly.  It also does not close its doors to intellect and reason and work.  It invites the Light into these qualities, bringing them to their best aspects.

The Light says to intellect:  Listen!  Listen for yourself, and deeply.  Think truly, and without the taint of old ways and tired traditions.

The Light says to reason:  Reason without social stigma and false hierarchy.  Reason with a cosmic mind, unlimited by false potentials.  Grow large by allowing yourself to Reason as Creators reason.

The Light says to work:  Work among your Brethren, for there you do not toil alone.  Among good company, you will Create and Achieve what you didn’t know before to be possible.

Usurp Doubt by using the tool called Faith, not in the plundering, limited ways it may have been taught to you.  Use Faith in Your Self.  Use Faith in Your Purpose.  Use Faith as a Co-Creator in a cosmos of Co-Creators.  That is:  see point ‘B’ from your current point ‘A’ and actuate yourself for the roadmap that soon occurs.  Follow that roadmap, step by step, using your wisdom, and the help of your spiritual community.

However you traverse that road between ‘A’ and ‘B’, you will be awake, and aware of the journey and how you undertake it.  You will be a savvy traveler.  No two journeys are the same, not even to the same destination, made by the same person from the same beginning point.  That is one of the beauties of Life.

Doubt is a construct of a small, constrained mind, NOT a caution.  When your intuition and wisdom stays your hand from some action, you understand its urgings:  that is Direction, NOT Doubt.  Doubt is a false, sly underpinning.  Do not answer its call.
When you hear Doubt’s voice, look ahead to point ‘B’.  What Direction is needed?  Check your horizons.
What signs see you of the first leg of your journey?  Are the etchings of your map writ clearly yet?

Usurp Doubt through strong Direction and following the tenets of Faith.  If this lesson has found you during a time of troubled Faith, take heart.  There are those of Us who watch over you.  We are a hand at your shoulder and a kind word at your ear.  Let Us in, and We will carry your Faith for you until you are strong enough to carry it again for Your Self.

WELL-MEETING THE DAY

Life is cycles inside cycles inside cycles. Day (deus: deity/ 2nd declination) arrives as night leaves and night arrives as day leaves. But Creator and the whole of Creation is there always.

For most in Earth School, day is a time of rising after the nightly regeneration.

It is a time of action and outer seeing.
The night, its sister, is womb-time for regeneration, dreaming,
and doing business with those in other dimensions.
They are not opposites so much as they are compatible and specific and different

Well-meeting the day is to give thanks for the miracle that is life, for the beauty that you can see in creation as the sun rises. It is new and fresh. It is bursting with opportunity, possibility, and hope.  It is the time, one can say: Today I am changed; today I succeed; today, I release all of my illusions. No, we are not saying that this can be done only in the day, as it concerns the revolution of Earth and its relationship to the sun.

We are saying that the energy of day is light and rising, potentiated for action. The dark is warm and sinking, time for inner contemplation and inner seeing. And how do you best use the energy of the day? YOU.  Not everyone.

Practice staying connected to your Tribe. Give thanks all day long. Seek truths in the objects, movements, conditions, and behaviors around you. Use the light of day to see clearly how your house needs cleaning. Clean it. Make no excuses. You are not limited except by your own beliefs, your mortality, and the restrictions of your dimension and planet. Inside those terms, the opportunities, while not limitless, are amazingly vast.

Exalt the day and it exalts you.

 Blessed Be This Day

HOPE

Hope is a wish made with determination.  With direction, the wish takes on a possible outcome with reliable signs.  To Hope is not to Manifest.  To Hope is not to Pray.  To Hope, in the purest form, is to apply energy in the direction of intent with the wish that the outcome meets your expectations, knowing that it might not, but seeing it in the highest light anyway.  Hope is one step higher than expectation and many steps below manifestation.

When does Hope serve you?  You have heard that a dear friend has been injured in a terrible accident; you Hope that he is okay.  Inside your thoughts, you see him as okay.  You wish for him to be okay.  You want the outcome to prove that he is okay.  All of this is positive energy directed rightly.

But what happens when your Hope is underscored by dread and fear?  I Hope my friend is okay, but I can’t see how it would be possible after hearing about the accident.  I Hope my friend is okay, but I know he doesn’t do well in an emergency.  I Hope my friend is okay, but what if he didn’t have his medical alert bracelet on?  Do you see?  You give positive reinforcement with one thought and negative reinforcement with the other thought.

To be truly beneficial, Hope must be open-ended.  You are on an island where an active volcano is threatening all; you hope that the Wednesday packet arrives as planned.  Meanwhile, you begin helping the community to build flotation devices and warn those who are elderly or handicapped that you’ll be evacuating.  All of these outcomes could be seen as an affirmative action.  It is both Helpful and Hopeful.

As you have learned in prayer to give thanks for what is, and to ask that things be amended in the picture of Highest Good, Hope does not enter in.  “I hope you heal little Jimmy.  He’s been a good boy.”  Perhaps Jimmy is indeed, a very fine boy.  Perhaps Jimmy and his Creator have chosen this time for him to go home.  This is not a punishment made out of hand to an innocent; it is not a reprisal for bad behavior, or a bad event.  It is an event.  Period.

Are there instances where other factors might be in play concerning Jimmy’s death transition?  Yes.  Hope will not change those circumstances either.  To Hope, without direction, is to take a passive role in your life:  you buy the lottery number 4629 and hope it wins; you hope that your soulmate will be at Friday’s dance; you hope that your garden does well.

Act.  Act.  Act.  You may Act with Hope, yes, but do not Hope without Action.  See the lottery number 4629 winning, envision the meeting of your soulmate and groom yourself for a celebration; give love to the plants in your garden and listen to what they need.  Hope without action is nothing more than the passive-aggressive meanderings of a lazy or underinformed mind.  Sense it; see it; study it; set in motion activities that manifest what you Hope for.

Do you see?  This seems like a small matter of words, but this is a coda for living life well.  Do not hope for things; make things happen.  Don’t hope that one day you’ll have time to play the piano.  Find a teacher and begin lessons.  Don’t hope that one day the right program will enable you to fix your roof; find persons with the skills to do the roof mending and set about discovering a trade of money, goods, or services that would allow this to happen.  Don’t hope that your physical condition will approve according to the doctor’s prescriptions; do well what you know to do and give attention to this daily.

Hope, guided by intuition and driven by action is what makes Manifestation the powerful tool that it is.  A wise craftsperson studies their craft, uses their tools, and shares those gifts and creations with others for their betterment and joy.  Great All has equipped each of us with a tool box, unique and complete in the beginning, but blessed each time it is expanded and beautified.

How can your Hopes lead you forward?
