TO BE SICK
What is it To Be Sick? What properties or forces have overcome our wellbeing, in order that we re-state ourselves To Be Sick?
Does Sickness serve a purpose? Is it different from illness, malaise, imbalance, disease, and disability? For purposes of today’s discussion, let us say that Sickness is the least of these, that it is the temporary and very transient condition of body, mind and Spirit to recede from its perceived state of wholeness—the being’s ability to fully engage in reciprocal activities.
To Be Sick is sometimes a Time-Out. The physical body may need to study and learn to defend against a pathogen or invader that is new to its environment. The emotional body may need to study and learn to respond to a condition arisen as a result of a new type of interaction. The mental body may need to expose flaws in the rational thought as it crashes against its theretofore unexposed false beliefs.
And in the Spirit body, Sickness sometimes arises when we are revealed to be blind, deaf, dumb, and non-compassionate to our own plight and the troth of others. Spirit suffers when we cannot hear our own Song, and when we cannot Sing it. The Great All has created You to succeed in all things, and urges you ever forward in your own evolution.
So, To Be Sick, is necessary at certain points. To Be Sick for extended periods creates challenges and mutations that become more and more difficult to escape. It becomes a Master’s task to walk again once lame, while a novice will recover from a sprained ankle.
When You Are Sick, listen to your Sickness. Look at IT. What is that Sickness saying?
How does your mind, body, and Spirit respond to its presence? Take what you will from this guest, bidding it welcome. And at the eager and appropriate time, bid it go with joy.
This is not to say that Life is without challenge of long-term illness, disabilities, deformities, and serious complications of the mortal structure. That is not To Be Sick. The fleeting days, or repeating cycling of Sickness are tiny trials, and can be trail markers, showing you something about the path, and how you are wildcrafting upon the path.
Do you use Sickness to withdraw or make excuses? Do you use Sickness with which to manipulate others? Do you use Sickness in the name of Martyrdom or as some other badge of false courage?
Or do you use Sickness as a time that could serve your Self? Do you sit in the Shade Throne and study the Light and the Dark—the Wellness and the Sickness—and see both sides of embodying your mortal form, comparing how and where you are? Do you let Sickness’ discomfort build your compassion and grow your wisdom?
To Be Sick is a punishment only if you make it so. It is wielded as a weapon only if you forge it thusly. To Be Sick is a gift, a quiet time of Spirit and study, with regained wellness at its conclusion if you allow it into your Self, not closing out the Song, but Singing IT.
Blessed Be This Day
